MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Latavia Jack of the University of Mobile Indoor Track and Field program was named the SSAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday, Jan. 18. The awards are based on performance for the week of Jan. 10-16.
Latavia Jack and Mobile competed in the Gulf Shores Triangular this past weekend which saw Jack qualify for the upcoming NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championship in not one, but two separate events. The true freshman joins teammates Anna Cabrera and Fedra Florentin in those who have qualified for NAIA Nationals thus far.
Latavia Jack (Mobile – FR – Lake Charles, La.)
- Jack won a pair of events and hit two qualifying marks at the Gulf Shores Triangular.
- She won the 60m with a time of 7.68 and won the 200m with a school-record time of 25.24.
- She hit the NAIA 'A' qualifying mark in the 60m and the 'B' qualifying mark in the 200m.
The University of Mobile Indoor Track and Field program will be back in action in the Samford Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 22. The event is hosted by Samford University and will partake in Birmingham, Ala.
