MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) announced the seventh slate of 2022-23 SSAC Games of the Week, presented by Herff Jones, on Wednesday, Oct. 19. This Saturday's men's soccer matchup between No. 4 Mobile and No. 12 William Carey took the title of the conference's men's soccer game of the week, being one of the best matchups across the NAIA this upcoming weekend.
Saturday night's match features two of the top teams in not only the SSAC, but in the NAIA Division. Mobile defeated William Carey to claim the 2021 SSAC Regular Season Championship last season, but fell in the 2021 SSAC Men's Soccer Championship to the Crusaders a couple of weeks later. Both teams enter this Saturday having just one loss on the season, while sitting in the top three of the current SSAC Men's Soccer standings.
Saturday's match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT at the Jungle on the University of Mobile campus.
Men's Soccer: #12 William Carey v. #4 Mobile | Saturday at 7:30 pm CST | Mobile, Ala.
- Mobile enters Saturday with an 11-1-1 overall record, while William Carey comes into the match with a 9-1-3 record.
- The Rams currently sit in first place in the SSAC Men's Soccer standings with 15 points (5-1-0), while the Crusaders are second with 14 points (4-0-2).
- For Mobile, Lucas Ros has 18 points on nine goals and Jose Sanabria has 12 points on three goals and six assists. Ty Turner has five shutouts in goal and the Rams' defense has surrendered only 12 goals in 13 games.
- For William Carey, Brandon Bermingham has 39 points with 16 goals and seven assists, while Djordje Djukovic has 22 points with eight goals and six assists. Andreas Kokoska has five shutouts and the Crusaders have allowed only nine goals in 13 games.
- Mobile owns the all-time series over their conference rival with a 26-18-3 record, but has lost in three of the last four meetings with the Crusaders.
