KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Participants for the 67th Annual NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship was officially announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) on Tuesday evening, Nov. 8, and will feature 36 teams and 78 individuals. The championship meet will be held on Nov. 18 in Tallahassee, Fla.
For the University of Mobile Cross Country program, head coach Andy Canegitta saw two Rams earn individual bids to this year's national meet, both coming from the UM Men's Cross Country team. Junior Preston Webb and freshman Joey Jones earned bids for the NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship after securing 10-finishes in the SSAC Men's Cross Country Championship last week. Webb and Jones, along with Canegitta, will travel to the panhandle of Florida next week for the championship meet.
The Basics
- This is the first year that the championship will be hosted in Tallahassee, Fla. The course will be located at the Apalachee Regional Park.
- The field is made up of 22 automatic qualifiers and 14 at-large berths. A team can automatically qualify by winning the conference championship meet or by being the meet runner-up (for a conference with more than one automatic qualifier). - In addition to the team qualifiers and at-large bids, 78 athletes will compete as individual qualifiers.
