UM Women's Basketball Struggles Against No. 10 Loyola in Return to Pharr Gymnasium

Rams Drop Conference Matchup to Undefeated Wolf Pack of Loyola

H. AUSTILL PHARR GYMNASIUM, MOBILE, Ala. - After spending over a month on the road and playing a total of seven-straight road games, the University of Mobile Women's Basketball team made their return to Pharr Gymnasium on Saturday, Dec. 3 for just their second home game of the 2022-23 season. In doing so, the Rams hosted the No. 10 Loyola Wolf Pack, who entered Saturday's game undefeated at 8-0. Loyola managed to control Saturday's game against the Rams and defeated Mobile 69-47 to remain unbeaten. With the loss, Mobile falls to 3-8 this year and 1-2 in conference play.

In the defeat, Mobile struggled to score consistently, never surpassing 13 points in any quarter. Meanwhile, Loyola put up at least 13 points in each quarter, including surpassing the 20-point plateau in the first and third quarters of the game. The Wolf Pack held the Rams to a 31% shooting line from the floor, while recording a 45% shooting percentage of their own.

Erica Jones scored a team-high 10 points in the loss, while Alesha Temple scored eight points. MacKenzie White finished with six points from off the bench for the Rams. As a team, Mobile converted 3 of 4 free throw attempts, but struggled from beyond the arch, making four of 20 three-point attempts. Mobile committed 19 turnovers and allowed 19 Loyola points of giveaways.

Mobile will return to action on Monday, Dec. 12 at 5:30 p.m. CT with a non-conference game against Dillard University in Pharr Gymnasium. The Rams fell to Dillard 58-54 on the road earlier in the season on Nov. 7.
