MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The University of Mobile Women's Basketball team fell to the Barons of Brewton-Parker College on Thursday night, Feb. 10 in Mount Vernon, Ga. The defeat is the fourth loss for Mobile in their last six games as it drops the Rams' overall season record to 12-8 on the year and puts their conference record at an even .500 (6-6).
Brewton-Parker put together a massive first quarter to start the evening, scoring 26 points alone in the first 10 minutes played. Mobile only managed to score 16 points in the first quarter and eventually trailed to Barons 39-29 at halftime. In the second half, Mobile out-scored Brewton-Parker 21-15 in the third quarter, but both teams scored 20 points each in the final quarter, leading the Barons to a four-point victory.
Sidney Sims managed to put together a nice offensive showing for Mobile despite the loss, scoring a season-high 21 points on Thursday. Sims made seven of 14 shot attempts and mixed in six rebounds and one assist. Miya Kimber also played a nice game, recording a double-double in the defeat with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kimber's 10 boards led Mobile. Erica Jones joined Sims and Kimber in the double-digit point category with 16 points while recording six rebounds.
As a team, Mobile only shot 33% from the floor, missing a total of 52 shots. The Rams made four of 15 three-point attempts and sank 14 of 16 free-throws. Mobile recorded one more rebound than Brewton-Parker on Thursday with 46 total boards and committed 17 turnovers.
Mobile will remain in Georgia over the weekend as the Rams are set for another conference game on Saturday afternoon. The team will battle Middle Georgia State at 12:00 p.m. ET/11:00 a.m. CT in Cochran, Ga. Mobile only has four regular season games left on the 2021-22 year.
