UM Beach Volleyball Goes 2-1 in Sun Conference South Pod Tournament Last Weekend

Rams Drop First Match of Season; Bounce Back with Two Wins to Conclude Weekend Tourney

AVE MARIA, Fla. - After sweeping conference rival William Carey 4-1 and 3-2 at home last week in two matches, the University of Mobile Beach Volleyball team flew down to Ave Maria, Fla. last weekend, Feb. 25-26 for three matches against Sun Conference opponents. Due to a small amount of teams in the Southern States Athletic Conference, the Rams, as well as the Crusaders from William Carey, joined the Sun Conference this season that features numerous beach volleyball teams.

Mobile began the weekend with a 5-0 loss to No. 9 Ave Maria on Friday, but bounced back later in the day with a 3-2 win over St. Thomas University. The win over St. Thomas is massive for the Rams as the Bobcats are currently receiving votes in the NAIA Women's Beach Volleyball Top 10 Coaches' Poll.

The following day, Mobile defeated Florida Memorial University 3-2 to wrap up the Sun Conference South Pod Tournament. Following the tournament, Mobile currently sits with a 6-1 overall record on the 2022 season and could very likely begin seeing votes for entry in the NAIA top 10 rankings in just their second year as a program.

Mobile is set for another beach volleyball tournament this upcoming weekend as the Rams will compete in the Gulf Shores Beach Tournament on Mar. 4-5. Mobile is slated to compete in five matches against five different opponents across the two-day tournament with three matches being scheduled for Fri. Mar. 4. The Rams kick off the tournament with a 9:30 a.m. CT match against Huntingdon College, who the Rams have already defeated once this season.
