Beach Volleyball Puts Up a Fight at SUN Conference Championship

Rams fall out of SUN tournament behind two close-match losses

SARASOTA, Fla. - The 2026 SUN Conference Beach Volleyball Championship was played this past weekend, with the University of Mobile Rams entering as the #4 seed. The Rams were Runners-Up in last year's tournament and were looking to claim a title that has eluded them over the past few years. The Rams started off the tournament with a meeting against the #5 seeded St. Thomas, where the Rams would fall in 5 sets. In the first game of the loser's bracket, Mobile would face the #8 seeded Truett McConnell and work a 3 set win to set up another meeting with St. Thomas on Saturday. The Rams were unable to turn things around in that second meeting with the Bobcats, losing in 5 sets once again to bring an end to Mobile's SUN Conference Championship run.

Up Next for the Rams

Mobile Beach Volleyball will round out their 2026 season at the AVCA Small College Beach Volleyball Tournament this upcoming weekend, in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The Tournament will run from April 17-18th, with Mobile scheduled to open up tournament play against Ottawa University (KS) at 10:10am CT on courts 16-20. They will follow that up with a match against Texas Wesleyan at 4:40pm CT on the same courts.
