TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Mobile Women's Basketball team will head into Christmas break with a four-game winning streak following a 2-0 weekend on the road against conference opponents, defeating Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) 74-68 on Thursday, Dec. 14 and Stillman College (Ala.) 65-58 two days later.
Mobile's overall record improves to 12-2 under first-year head coach Sydney Westry, with the SSAC record improving to 5-1.
Thursday Games Notes: Mobile @ Blue Mountain - 74-68
- Mobile finished Thursday's game with a 43.5% shooting line, making a total of 30 shots in the process.
- Additionally, the Rams finished 11-for-17 from the free throw line, making three three-pointers.
- For Blue Mountain, the Toppers shot 47% as a team, but only made 23 shots from the floor, while recording a 17-for-19 free throw line.
- Defensively, the Rams forced 11 Blue Mountain turnovers, tallying seven steals in the process, and eventually scored 15 points off giveaways.
- Erica Jones tallied a team-high 20 points to lead Mobile, followed closely by Braylee McMath who notched 19 points. Both Jones and McMath combined for 11 rebounds in the victory.
- Charnita Brooks led all players by scoring 22 points on Blue Mountain's side.
- Mobile dominated the rebound battle with 41 boards, holding Blue Mountain to just 20 rebounds.
Saturday Game Notes: Mobile @ Stillman - 65-58
- Stillman went into halftime with a one-point lead over Mobile, despite the Rams scoring 19 points alone in the first quarter.
- After scoring just eight points in the second, Mobile managed 18 points in the third quarter, adding 20 points in the fourth.
- For the Tigers, Stillman only tallied 15 points each in the final two quarters of the game.
- Mobile finished Saturday's game shooting 40%, while Stillman only shot 32% in the seven-point loss.
- The Rams finished the win with just 20 made shots, but added 24 successful free throw attempts.
- Stillman finished 13-for-19 from the free throw line after recording 19 total made shots.
- Alanna Donaldson led Mobile with 21 points, adding five rebounds and two assists. Miriam Oldarcre finished behind Donaldson with 13 points.
- Stillman's highest scorer, Danyjhia Williams, only scored 12 points against Mobile.
- The Rams notched 39 rebounds, while Stillman recorded 34.
Next on the Schedule
Mobile is set to return to non-conference action for the next game on the schedule, coming at home on Dec. 30 at 12:00 p.m. CT against LSU-Alexandria (La.).
