MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The University of Mobile Women's Basketball team opened its SSAC conference slate with a narrow 70-66 loss at home to No. 13 Loyola University (La.) on Thursday evening, Nov. 14, seeing the overall record fall to 3-2 on the season. Despite strong efforts from several key players, the Rams were hampered by foul trouble throughout the game, which ultimately proved costly in the end.
How It Happened
Mobile led by as much as 10 points midway through the second quarter but struggled to maintain their momentum against Loyola's steady scoring. The Rams committed 35 personal fouls across the entirety of Thursday's game, resulting in Loyola attempting 46 free throws, converting 30 of them for a decisive edge. In contrast, Mobile shot just 16 free throws, making 12.
Alanna Donaldson and Braylee McMath, who both fouled out in the fourth quarter, contributed 11 points each. MacKenzie White led the Rams with 14 points and added eight rebounds and three steals, while Hannah Benoit scored 10 points off the bench. Mobile's effort on the boards was commendable, out-rebounding the Wolf Pack 42-30, but turnovers (16) and Loyola's ability to capitalize on free throws tilted the game in the visitors' favor.
