PULASKI, Tenn. - The University of Mobile Women's Basketball team secured a thrilling victory over the University of Tennessee Southern on Saturday, Dec. 7, defeating the Firehawks 72-68 for the Rams' third consecutive win. The win improves Mobile's overall record to 8-3 and 3-2 in conference play, while UT-Southern falls to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the league.
Resilient Comeback for the Rams
After opening Saturday's game trailing by 19 points at the end of the first quarter and falling behind 41-29 at the half, Mobile eventually overcame the large deficit by rallying with a strong third quarter, scoring 27 points in the 10-minute frame while holding the Firehawks to just 12 points. It was a back-and-forth game through the final 10 minutes, with the Rams coming away with the four-point comeback win after outscoring the Firehawks 16-15 in the fourth quarter.
Miriam Oldarcre led Mobile with 20 points in the victory, including three key three-pointers. She also contributed defensively with three rebounds. Alanna Donaldson added 19 points and five rebounds as both Oldarcre and Donaldson finished with seven made shots from the floor. Braylee McMath chipped in with 12 points and three assists, and Verd Fontaine dominated the boards with a game-high 10 rebounds.
Mobile as a team shot 41.7% from the field, including 37% from three-point range after converting 10-of-27 attempts. From the free-throw line, the Rams managed a 12-for-18 line through Saturday's contest.
Rams Head Home
After three consecutive games on the road, Mobile is set to return home to Pharr Gymnasium for a non-divisional contest against the University of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) on Saturday, Dec. 14. Saturday's game is the one and only home game for the Rams during the month of December and is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. CT.
