Three First-Half Goals Prevails Rams to Non-Conference Win

THE JUNGLE | MOBILE, Ala. - After a 1-0-1 start on the road to open the 2024 season, the University of Mobile Women's Soccer team played the first match at home on Saturday evening, Aug. 31, hosting LSU-Alexandria (La.) for a non-conference bout at the Jungle. Mobile eventually put together a strong first half, leading the Rams to a 3-1 win over the Generals of LSU-A for the second victory of the 2024 campaign.

20 minutes ticked off the clock before Mobile opened the scoring on Saturday, with Raegan Latiolais notching her second goal of the young season. Andi Hughes was credited with the assist on Latiolais' goal, putting the Rams up, 1-0. Just five minutes later, Mobile extended the first-half lead as Lindsey Meza recorded her first goal of the year. Ashlyn Broussard earned the assist.

As time ticked down near halftime, Mobile managed a big insurance goal in the 43rd minute, with Delainy Cunningham giving the Rams a 3-0 edge. Bailey Bronner was credited with the assist as Mobile took a 3-0 lead to the break, out-shooting LSU-A 6-5 through the first 45 minutes. In the second half, Mobile was called for a foul in the LSU-A box in the 49th minute, allowing the Generals to score off a PK. However, the Rams held LSU-A off the scoreboard for the remainder of the home opener, with Mobile earning the 3-1 win.

Overall, Mobile tallied 13 shots and six shots-on-goal in the victory, while LSU-A managed 10 shots. The Generals' lone shot on target was the successful penalty kick to open the second half.
