BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. - It was a one-sided battle in the first SSAC women's soccer match of the season on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 19, with the University of Mobile Women's Soccer team blowing past Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.), 9-0. Thursday's matchup was the first conference match of the year for both programs, with Mobile setting the tone early against the home team.

Rams For Nine
Thursday afternoon's heat in northeast Mississippi came from more than the sun as Mobile's offense caught fire throughout the 90-minute match. After the match saw a 12-minute scoreless start, the Rams opened the scoring in the 13th minute following Raegan Latiolais' team-best third goal of the season. Mobile then added two more goals before the halftime whistle, with Carla Saborido notching her first goal of the year in the 30th minute and Natalie Burt collecting her first collegiate goal in the 43rd minute. Kaitlyn Skrove and Skylar Bennett split assists on Mobile's second and third goals. From there, Mobile went to the break up, 3-0.
In the second half, the Rams' offensive dominance rolled on as Mobile added six more goals through the final 45 minutes. Andi Hughes opened the second half scoring with a goal in the 53rd minute, followed by Skylar Bennett in the 61st. Jil Hellerforth then went back-to-back with a pair of goals scored across the 61st and 70th minutes, matching Raegan Latiolais for a team-high three goals scored this season. Hellerforth's first goal came just 15 seconds after Bennett's goal, with Nicole Fabbruzzo earning the assist. Freshman Taylor Davidson then added Mobile's eighth goal of the match in the 73rd minute, while another freshman Rebecca Ryan put the match away with a score in the 89th. Both goals were the first of the collegiate careers for the two newcomers.
Overall, the Rams tallied a whopping 35 shots in the blowout win, with 19 being recorded on goal. Blue Mountain only mustered one shot in the losing effort as Mobile goalkeeper Ebba Elweroth collected the save in the shutout performance. Entering Thursday's action, the Rams only scored six times through five matches. Mobile now has 15 goals in six matches, with the team averaging 2.5 goals per contest. The nine-goal performance is the most goals scored in a match for the Rams since the 2022 season where Mobile defeated Talladega College (Ala.), 12-0.
