Rams Back Over .500 Following Shutout Over Brewton-Parker

THE JUNGLE | MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Women's Soccer team is back over .500 on the year following a shutout victory over Brewton-Parker College (Ga.) on Thursday evening, Sept. 26. The overall record improves to 4-3-1 on the season after Thursday's result, while the SSAC records moves to 2-1-0.

Mobile defeated the Barons 4-0 in front of the home faithful, scoring three goals alone in the second half, while holding Brewton-Parker to just two shots in the entire match.

Meza Guides Rams to Win

After a lengthy scoreless start to Thursday's matchup, Andi Hughes put the Rams on the scoreboard with her second goal of the year in the 39th minute. Hughes' goal came following a great pass from outside the box off the boot of Lindsey Meza, who was awarded the assist. The late first half goal gave Mobile a 1-0 advantage at the halftime whistle, with the Rams tallying 15 shots through the first 45 minutes in the process.

In the second half, Lindsey Meza laced a shot from well outside the box that went right over the head and glove of the Brewton-Parker goalkeeper. Meza's goal came not long after halftime in the 47th minute and is her second goal scored on the year. With a 2-0 lead, Mobile did not score again until the 71st minute where Kaitlyn Skrove tallied her first goal of the season. Skrove's goal came after Lindsey Meza received a corner kick and drove a deep pass to the head of Ashlyn Broussard inside the box. From there, Broussard was able to find Skrove for the score. Both Meza and Broussard earned a double-assist on the goal.

Just three minutes later, Raegan Latiolais produced Mobile's fourth and final goal of the evening, recording her team-leading fourth goal of the season. Greta Schneider was able to find Latiolais near midfield as Latiolais managed to shoot one past the keeper. From there, Mobile took the match, 4-0.

The Rams were dominant on Thursday, out-shooting the Barons, 31-2. Mobile saw 13 shots recorded on goal and controlled possession of the ball for the majority of the 90 minutes. A total of 16 Rams recorded at least one shot in the victory. For Lindsey Meza, the second-year Rams recorded one goal and two assists in the win, collecting four points.
