TIFTON, Ga. - The University of Mobile Women's Basketball team extended the current win streak to eight games following the first-ever SSAC meeting with Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (Ga.) on Thursday night, Jan. 10, securing a dominant 79-54 win in the process. The Rams, now holding a strong 13-3 overall record, have not lost a game since November of this season, while improving the conference record to 5-2.
Strong Team Performance Guides Rams to Win
Mobile started strong, leading 19-11 after the first quarter, and steadily increased the lead throughout the game. The Rams were particularly effective in the second quarter, outscoring ABAC 23-10, which gave Mobile a commanding halftime advantage. Despite a slight surge by ABAC in the third quarter, Mobile maintained control and sealed the victory with a 22-point final quarter.
Reigning SSAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week Braylee McMath led the Rams with 23 points, connecting on four three-pointers and contributing five rebounds. MacKenzie White was a defensive force, recording seven steals, while adding 12 points and five rebounds, and Miriam Oldacre provided a balanced effort with 16 points and three rebounds, including two three-pointers. Halle Verkerk dominated the boards, securing a game-high 13 rebounds to complement her seven points.
Overall, the Rams' aggressive defense forced 25 turnovers, converting those into 24 points. Mobile's rebounding dominance (51-38) and second-chance opportunities (22 points) underscored control of the game. Mobile finished Thursday with a 41.3 team shooting percentage.
What's Next
Mobile will look to continue riding the current eight-game win streak on Saturday, Jan. 11, with the Rams facing Brewton-Parker College (Ga.) on the road in Mount Vernon, Ga. Saturday's game is scheduled to tip off at 11:00 a.m. CT.
