Surge in Second Half Extends Mobile Winning Streak to 11 Games

Rams Use Second Half Comeback in Saturday Blowout

H. AUSTILL PHARR GYMNASIUM | MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Women's Basketball team secured a comeback victory over Point University (Ga.) on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 18, defeating the Skyhawks 68-39 to extend the current win streak to an impressive 11 games. Mobile's last loss came on Nov. 23 of this year's campaign, where the Rams fell to conference rival William Carey (Miss.) at home. Since then, Mobile has rattled off 11-straight victories, eight of which have come on the road. The Rams are currently 11-1 in games played away from Pharr Gymnasium this season and are 5-2 on their home floor.

The overall record improves to 16-3 on the season and 8-2 in SSAC action following Saturday's win over Point as Mobile makes a case to begin receiving votes for entry in the next NAIA Women's Basketball Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

Rams Use Strong Second Half

Despite a sluggish first half that saw Mobile make just nine shots from the floor and trail 24-23 at halftime, the Rams came alive in the third and fourth quarters, eventually outscoring the Skyhawks 45-15 across the entire second half. Spearheaded by performances from MacKenzie White, Miriam Oldacre, and Alanna Donaldson, Mobile went on to win Saturday's game by 29 points, finishing the game with an overall shooting percentage at 45.8%. The Rams knocked in six threes in the victory, adding eight made free throws on 16 attempts.

For MacKenzie White, the senior led all players on the floor with 20 points and four steals, adding eight rebounds to finish two boards shy of her sixth double-double of the season. Miriam Oldacre followed White with a double-double of her own, contributing 16 points and 10 rebounds on Saturday as all 16 of Oldacre's points came in the second half. Alanna Donaldson started Saturday strong, recording nine points alone in the first quarter. She eventually finished with 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists against the Skyhawks.

Mobile's defense was on full display across Saturday's contest, forcing 21 turnovers and grabbing 15 steals. Braylee McMath, along with White, led the defensive charge with four steals, while the team collectively limited Point to just 26.7% shooting from the field. The Rams managed 18 total points off the Skyhawks' giveaways. In addition, the Rams dominated the rebound battle, securing 38 boards compared to Point's 25.

Back in Action Next Thursday

After two games in three days, Mobile will take a few days off and return to the court on Thursday evening, Jan. 23 at home. Mobile is scheduled to host Thomas University (Ga.) on Thursday, with tip-off being set for 5:30 p.m. CT.
