UM SOFTBALL FIELD | MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile Rams took on the Stallions of ABAC in softball for the first time in history. The match up went favorably for the Rams as they walked away with a sweep in the doubleheader against their new, conference opponent. The Stallions will not get a chance for revenge, with the two sides not scheduled to meet again in the remainder of the regular season.
Game One - Mobile 5, ABAC 2
The Rams kicked things off in the bottom of the first when an error by the ABAC shortstop allowed Lucy Spisto to run home and score. Madilyn Sheffield followed that up with a single to right field that brought home Katelynn Kempton. The Stallions would get one back in the second inning with an RBI double up the middle. Gracie Mitchell responded back with an RBI single to score Miah Simmons. Sheffield would once again score Kempton in the third to make it 4-1. Mitchell would round out the scoring for Mobile with a single to bring home Jenna Manning. Mobile would win game one 5-2 with Riley Smith picking up the win and Katelynn Kempton earning a save.
Game Two - Mobile 3, ABAC 0
Avery Harrell and the Mobile defense were solid in game two, allowing only 1 hit and no walks throughout the entire seven innings. On the offense side of things, Bethany Dean picked up an RBI and a run in the third inning to make it 2-0 to the Rams. Katelynn Kempton capped things off with a single down the right field line to bring Carleigh Bowden home. The stellar pitching performance from Harrell moves her record to 9-2 overall this season.
