Rams Dominate Stallions in Conference Opener

Mobile defeats ABAC 12-0 to open SSAC play

Box Score TIFTON, Ga. – The University of Mobile women's soccer team was dominant on Wednesday afternoon in their SSAC opener for the 2025 season. The Rams took control of the match through a strong first half before cruising their way through the second half to a 12-0 victory.

It took just 10 minutes for the Rams to get going as as Nettie Cantey opened the scoring before Elke Fernandez doubled the lead just a minute later with an assist from Andi Hughes. With momentum already shifting in their favor, the Rams would add a third with Ariana Taylor finding the back of the net in the 14th minute. Before the first 20 minutes were over, Nettie Cantey added her second goal of the afternoon, courtesy of an assist by Andi Hughes.

With the Rams up 4-0 through the first 20 minutes, they continued to pile on the pressure with Eleanor Cowan joining the list of scorers in the 23rd minute with Ariana Taylor providing the assist. Cowan would switch gears and turn from goalscorer to playmaker as she set up Charlotte Malamaire in the 26th minute to make it 6-0. Maya Tait added on another in the 30th minute with Lanie Shaw seting up the goal. Lucy Allen also found herself getting involved with the scoring as she put away an effort in the 33rd minute. Rounding out the first half scoring was Malamaire who raced onto a long ball through the middle of the field by Bailey Bronner before burying the shot past the ABAC goalkeeper.

The the Rams carrying a 9-0 advantage out of halftime, the brakes started to be pumped as Mobile became more defensive and possession oriented in their approach to the match. Despite the change in strategy, Greta Schneider would score Mobile's tenth in the 59th minute with Nicole Fabbruzzo provding the setup. Becca Ryan made it 11-0 in the 67th before Jil Hellerforth rounded out the scoring in the 79th minute with Cowan providing her second assist of the match.

The Rams outshot their opponents 33-10 in the match with goalkeeper Alison Soto making 6 saves in the second half to secure the clean sheet for her side.

With SSAC conference matchups now underway, the Rams begin preparations for their next match where they will take on Blue Mountain at home in 'The Jungle' on September 25th, at 5:00pm CT. That match can be watched live, for free, on Urban Edge Network.
