MOBILE INDOOR TRACK & FIELD BEGIN SEASON AT SAMFORD INVITATIONAL
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After seeing the first meet of the 2020-21 schedule be cancelled due to COVID-19 precautions at William Carey University back on Nov. 20, the University of Mobile Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field program finally saw their season begin in the Samford Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 23.
A total of 17 colleges entered the Samford Invitational, ranging from the NAIA Division all the way to NCAA Division 1. Host-school Samford University, Mississippi State University, Middle Tennessee State, Southern Illinois University, and Tennessee State University were the five teams from NCAA D-1. Mobile and William Carey were the only two schools to represent the Southern States Athletic Conference in the NAIA.
UM Track and Field, led by seventh-year head coach Andy Canegitta, participated in several events in the Samford Open on Saturday and saw success come throughout the day.
