GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of Mobile Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field teams competed at the 2025 SSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 14-15, with the women's team coming home fourth overall and the men's team finishing the conference championships fifth overall. Both the men's and women's championships saw six SSAC teams compete across the two-day event.
Life University (Ga.) eventually won the team conference title on the men's side, while William Carey (Miss.) took first overall on the women's side.
Harned, Jones Earns Individual Championships
Mobile's weekend was highlighted by Jacob Harned and Joey Jones, who both captured first-place finishes in their respective distance events. Harned earned Mobile's first victory over the weekend on Friday, winning gold in the men's 5,000 meters event with a time of 15:15.78. Harned bested Life University's Elie Penitzka and William Carey's Matthew Mcguire on the podium.

Joey Jones followed Harned's performance the following day by winning the SSAC title in the men's 3,000 meters event, clocking in a time of 8:51.25. Jones managed to top Loyola University's (La.) Jacob Kennedy and teammate Preston Webb on the podium for gold.
Other Podium Finishes for the Rams
Although Jacob Harned and Joey Jones came home with Mobile's only SSAC titles from the weekend, several Rams managed to make podium and earn medals throughout the conference championships. Podium finishes can be found below:
- Kayley Burgess - Women's 5,000 Meters - 19:59.95 (3rd Place)
- Mallory Botos - Women's Weight Throw - 12.98 meters (2nd Place)
- Women's 4x800 Meter Relay Team (Kaylea Holmes, Trinity Page, Reese Prestridge, Claire Atkins) - 10:59.79 (3rd Place)
- Women's Distance Medley Relay Team (Kaylea Holmes, Kayley Burgess, Reese Prestridge, Claire Atkins) - 14:05.61 (2nd Place)
- Men's 1.000 Meters - Jeb Scarbrough - 2:32.95 (3rd Place)
- Men's 3,000 Meters - Preston Webb - 8:51.66 (3rd Place)
- Men's 60 Meter Hurdles - Jaileb Ballard - 8.46 (3rd Place)
- Men's 4x800 Meter Relay Team (Johnathan Turner, Denzel Sawyer, Henry Woodall, Joe Stevens) - 8:13.61 (2nd Place)
- Men's Distance Medley Relay Team (Denzel Sawyer, Johnathan Turner, Henry Woodall, Jeb Scarbrough) - 10:56.85 (3rd Place)
In addition to the podium finishes, Jeb Scarbrough in the men's 1,000 meters and the men's distance medley relay team broke school records over the weekend.
Outdoor Season is Upon the Rams
With the conference championships concluded and no Ram qualifying for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships this season, Mobile turns the attention towards the outdoor track and field season, slated to begin in March 2025.
