No. 9 Mobile Improves to 5-1 Following Friday Win Over LSU-Alexandria

Joshua Bynoe's Hat Trick Leads Rams Past Generals Friday Afternoon at the Jungle

Box Score MOBILE, Ala. - In the most recent NAIA Men's Soccer Top 25 Coaches' poll, the University of Mobile Men's Soccer team jump more spots than any other team in the rankings, moving up nine spots from No. 18 to No. 9 in the nation. Coming into a Friday afternoon's match against LSU-Alexandria, the Rams have recorded a 4-1 record against top competition early in the 2021 season with four of the five opponents being ranked.

On Friday, Sept. 10, Mobile continued their hot start to the season with a 4-1 victory over the Generals, improving their record to 5-1. Mobile forward Joshua Bynoe had himself a match, recording a hat trick by scoring Mobile's first three goals of the match in the first half.

Bynoe's first goal came in just the second minute of the match. He followed that with a goal in the 11th minute and his third and final goal in the 42nd minute. Alejo Binaghi and Maxime Benoit were responsible for the assists to Bynoe's first two goals and both were credited with the double-assist on Bynoe's third goal.

LSU-A managed to score their lone goal in the 24th minute and the match was in favor of Mobile 3-1 at halftime. In the second half, the Rams scored an insurance goal early in the half to make the score, 4-1. Alejandro Lozano scored Mobile's fourth and final goal in the 49th minute and Alejo Binaghi recorded his third assist of the match.

Overall, it was a dominant performance by the Mobile offense as they out-shot the Generals, 12-4. Defense was solid as well for the Rams and the Rams' goalkeeper Antoine Bedos recorded two saves, allowing just the early first half goal. 

For Mobile Head Coach Daniel Whelan, Friday's win marked his 99th career win as head coach for the University of Mobile Men's Soccer program. Whelan can claim his 100th career win with the Rams in their next scheduled match at home on Saturday, Sept. 11. Mobile will host Our Lady of the Lake University at 3:30 p.m. CT on Saturday.
