Mobile's Slow Start Continues on Saturday with Loss to Our Lady of the Lake University

Mobile Allows Three Unanswered Goals in Fifth-Straight Defeat

Box Score MOBILE, Ala. - Just 24 hours after facing the No. 1 team in the country in Keiser University, the University of Mobile Women's Soccer team hosted Our Lady of the Lake University in the afternoon home match on Saturday, Sept. 11. The Rams managed to hit the scoreboard first, but eventually fell to the Saints, 3-1. With Saturday's loss, Mobile's season records drops to 0-5-1 on the year.

Mobile's Mia Mugford recorded her first goal of the season for Mobile after floating a shot over the Saints goalkeeper in the 16th minute of the match. From there, the Mobile defense play consistent in the first half until Our Lady of the Lake managed to score the equalizer just two minutes before the break.

Coming out of halftime, the Saints looked much stronger, making some noticeable adjustments at halftime. Our Lady of the Lake threatened near the Mobile box early and often in the second half, eventually scoring the go-ahead goal in the 54th minute after a slow rolling ball slipped through the gloves of Mobile goalkeeper Payton Lewis. Just three minutes, a similar goal was scored by the Saints after the ball ricocheted off Lewis in the box. Mobile went on to lose the match, 3-1.

The Rams were out-shot, 12-7 with three of their shots being on-goal. Lewis recorded a total of four saves in the full 90 minutes. Mugford led the way for the Rams with two shots, including her goal.

Mobile will hit the road again next weekend for two more non-conference matches when they travel to Thomasville, Ga. to battle Thomas University on Friday, Sept. 17 and SCAD Savannah on Sept. 18 in Thomas. Both matches are scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CT.
