SAVANNAH, Ga. – The University of Mobile Men's Bowling program, led by head coach Dana Evans, opened the inaugural 2022-23 season over the weekend, competing in the SCAD Shootout I tournament on Saturday, Oct. 29 and the SCAD Shootout II tournament on Sunday. In the first-ever tournament for UM Bowling, the men's team placed 11th out of 11 competing teams on day one with an overall score of 5362, and placed 10th out of 10 teams on Sunday with a final score of 5131.
In the SCAD Shootouts, the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) saw several teams compete. Mobile was joined by Blue Mountain College, SCAD-Atlanta, Milligan, and the eventual tournament winner SCAD-Savannah over the weekend in Savannah, Ga.
Individually for the Rams, Mobile was led by freshman Austin Martin on day one, who placed 26th overall out of 108 entrants. Martin finished with a final score of 704, averaging 174 pins across the four games played. On day two, Martin scored a 633 in four games, averaging just over 158 pins. He placed 44th overall in the SCAD Shootout II.
Behind Martin was Luke Owers, who placed 37th in the SCAD Shootout I and 52nd in the SCAD Shootout II. Owers averaged 163 pins in the first event and finished with a final score of 652.

The UM Men's Bowling team will return to the lanes for their second tournament of the inaugural season in a few weeks as the Rams will compete in the Spring Hill Classic in Mobile, Ala on Nov. 19. Additionally, the UM Women's Bowling team is set to begin their inaugural season in the Spring Hill Classic.
