MOBILE, Ala. - For just the second time during the 2022 inaugural season, the University of Mobile Men's Bowling team competed against NAIA competition over the weekend, competing in the SHC Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 21, hosted by Spring Hill College. The local tournament was the first tournament for the Rams to be held in Mobile, Ala., as Mobile began the season in Savannah, Ga. on Oct. 29-30. The SHC Tournament was played at AMF Camellia Lanes.
In the SHC Tournament, Mobile came away with a sixth-place finish, the best finish of the year thus far. Nine teams entered the weekend tournament, with three coming from the SSAC conference. As a team, Mobile was the highest finisher out of the competing conference foes.
Luke Owers led the charge for Mobile, finishing in a season-high 13th place out of 70 competing bowlers. In seven games played, Owers averaged 171 pins, eight better than the season-opening tournament in late October. He finished with a score of 1,194, with his best game coming in the final game played where he bowled a 207.
Behind Owers was Austin Martin and Trace Hauck, who placed 22nd and 23rd. Martin led Mobile in the season opener, but placed 22nd in the SHC Tournament. He averaged 162 pins, tallying a total score of 1,141. For Hauck, he averaged one less pin than Martin at 161, and recorded a total score of 1,136.

Following Mobile's best tournament of the season, the Rams will take a couple of months off and will return to action in the two-day Stillman College Tournament on Feb. 11-12. The Stillman College Tournament will be held in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
