MOBILE, Ala. - The University of Mobile Athletic Department and head softball coach Alison Sellers-Cook officially announced that Wednesday afternoon's doubleheader versus Xavier University of Louisiana has been postponed due to inclement weather.
The sixth-ranked Rams were originally scheduled to host Xavier (La.) for two non-conference games at the UM Softball Field on Wednesday afternoon. However, severe weather with a chance of tornadoes and high wind is forecasted for the Mobile, Ala. area on Wednesday, Mar. 30, forcing Sellers-Cook to make the call to postpone the games. A make-up date has not been decided on yet.
Mobile is currently 30-0 on the season, giving this year's team the all-time program record for consecutive wins (29). The Rams swept Xavier (La.) earlier in the season in New Orleans, La. and will look to do the same against the Gold Nuggets when the postponed doubleheader is rescheduled.
Mobile's next games will instead occur this upcoming weekend when the Rams travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. for arguably the toughest competition on the 2022 season thus far. No. 6 Mobile will battle the seventh-ranked Crusaders of William Carey in a conference doubleheader on Friday, Apr. 1, beginning at 4:00 p.m. CT.
