MOBILE, Ala. - Ahead of the 2022 season opening weekend for the University of Mobile Men's Soccer program, inclement weather has forced Mobile Head Coach Daniel Whelan to change locations of a four-match tournament to a local high school north of the University of Mobile. Satsuma High School, located in Satsuma, Ala. approximately 15 minutes north of the University of Mobile, will now host the season opening men's soccer tournament Friday-Sunday, Aug. 19-21.
Mobile was originally set to host three NAIA opponents this weekend at the Jungle on UM's campus, but with heavy rain forecasted over the next several days, Whelan has changed the location of all matches to Satsuma High School, who recently added a turf field to the football/soccer complex.
The schedule and start times for each match of the tournament remains the same, with the Rams competing in two matches across Friday and Saturday. A full look at this weekend's schedule can be found below.
- Friday, Aug. 19 @ 5:00 p.m. CT - MOBILE v. LSU-Shreveport (La.)
- Friday, Aug. 19 @ 7:30 p.m. CT - Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) v. Thomas (Ga.)
- Saturday, Aug. 20 @ 7:30 p.m. CT - MOBILE v. Embry-Riddle (Ariz.)
- Sunday, Aug. 21 @ 2:00 p.m. CT - Thomas (Ga.) v. LSU-Shreveport (La.)
The Rams will begin the 2022 season as the No. 2 team in the NAIA, with Embry-Riddle and LSU-Shreveport both receiving votes for entry in the NAIA Men's Soccer Top 25 Coaches' Poll.
Due to the location change, broadcast/video will not be available. Live stats will be available for matches involving Mobile only, and can be viewed at https://umobilerams.com/sidearmstats/msoc/summary.
