Sunday's Doubleheader at UM Softball Field Earns Conference Games of the Week Title

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The SSAC announced the 22nd slate of 2022-23 SSAC Games of the Week, presented by Herff Jones, with the University of Mobile Softball program's scheduled doubleheader on Sunday, Mar. 19 earning the title of SSAC Softball Games of the Week. 

The No. 1 Rams are set to face No. 22 Middle Georgia State on Sunday afternoon at the UM Softball Field, with the doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. CT. The meeting is the first this season between the two teams, with Middle Georgia State being the team to break the history making 34-game win streak Mobile recorded last year. However, Mobile has claimed six wins in the last seven meetings with the Knights dating back to the 2021 season. 

This Sunday's doubleheader marks the eighth time this year alone that the Rams have battled a ranked opponent.

  • The latest NAIA Top 25 poll has Mobile at No. 1 and Middle Georgia at No. 22. The Rams are 17-4 overall and 4-0 in SSAC play, while the Knights are 18-2 and 4-0.
  • For Mobile, Caitlin McRee is hitting .422 with nine XBH and 15 RBIs and Kristen Black is batting .328 with 12 runs scored.
  • In the pitcher's circle, Mobile's Emily Butts is 8-1 with 63.1 innings of work and Brinkley Goff leads the team in strikeouts (54), while tossing a no-hitter her last time out.
  • For Middle Georgia State, Emma Raulerson is batting .358 with 18 RBIs and 16 runs and Madisyn Riggins is batting .356 with 13 XBH and 12 RBIs.
  • In the circle, the Knights are led by Beth Eddins, who is 8-0 with a 1.26 ERA in 44.1 innings.
  • In the all-time series between Mobile and Middle Georgia State, the Rams own the series with a 19-5 overall record.
