MOBILE, Ala. - Originally scheduled to play four non-conference matches in the annual Faulkner Volleyball Invitational this upcoming weekend, Sept. 1-2, the University of Mobile Volleyball program has officially withdrawn from the tournament in Montgomery, Ala. for undisclosed reasons. Mobile Head Volleyball Coach Jon Campbell made the official decision to cancel the trip on late Wednesday evening, Aug. 30.
In the Faulkner Volleyball Invite, Mobile was set to face Columbia International (S.C.) and Tennessee Wesleyan on Friday to open the tournament, while facing Southeastern University (Fla.) and Reinhardt University (Ga.) to conclude the tourney the following day. Instead, Mobile's next scheduled match will now come at home as the Rams host non-divisional opponent Pensacola Christian College (Fla.) on Tuesday, Sept. 5 in Pharr Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m. CT.
Next Tuesday's match against PCC is the final non-conference match before conference play kicks off, with the SSAC portion of the schedule slated to begin on Thursday, Sept. 7 against conference rival William Carey (Miss.). Mobile v. William Carey is set for 6:00 p.m. CT in Pharr Gymnasium.
