MULTIPLEX AT CRAMTON BOWL | MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The University of Mobile Women's Basketball team will have a chance to become SSAC Conference Tournament Champions the next time they return to the court. This comes after Mobile defeated the Wolf Pack of Loyola by a score of 72-61 in the Semifinals match. This will be the second year in a row that the team has made the final, having fallen short last year to Loyola.
A Record Night
Mobile set the tone early, jumping out to a 20-13 lead after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 41-28 by halftime. The Rams' offense was powered by Alanna Donaldson, who set a new SSAC Tournament single game record with 39 points, shooting 14-for-21 from the field and 5-for-9 from beyond the arc. Braylee McMath added 14 points, while MacKenzie White contributed nine points and five assists.
Loyola attempted to rally in the second half, outscoring Mobile in the third quarter 19-15, but the Rams were able to maintain their composure and closed out the game without trailing once to their opponents. Mobile shot 75% from the free throw line and won the battle for rebounds 38-34 against their opponents.
Conference Final
Mobile are set to take on Blue Mountain (Miss.) in Montgomery, Ala. on Saturday, March 1st, at 4:00pm CT in the SSAC Conference Tournament Championship Match. The #8 seed Blue Mountain have been the surprise team in this tournament having upset the #1 seed William Carey in the quarterfinals and beating #4 seed UT-Southern in the Semifinals. The Mobile Women's Basketball Team will be hoping to win their first SSAC Tournament Championship since the 2016/2017 season when current Head Coach Sydney Westry was a player for Mobile. The match will be broadcast live on the SSAC Sports Network.
